Although basketball is the sport I play the best, I was a little worried on how I would do against Jimmy.
It’s hard to tell how good a player he is from looking at his Youtube clips because he’s dominating a kid:
Then again, Yi Jianlian was drafted #6 overall in the 2007 NBA draft by the Milwaukee Bucks from a tape of Yi dunking over a chair in workouts (this clip is conveniently gone from YouTube…).
For what it was worth, Jimmy shows nice form on his jumper. Plus I know he’s a basketball junkie and probably studies the game. Why would he challenge me to one on one if he wasn’t confident about his game?
You could tell that Jimmy has game, but it was evident he hadn’t played in a long while. I was fortunate to catch him at less than 100%. You have to hand it to him though. He’s a gamer for choosing to go with the one-on-one challenge. Either that or he grossly underestimated me. The montage and game score might not have been in his favor, but at least he can appreciate our choice of background music.
It certainly was a fun first foray into our new project. We can always improve, and I promise, we will get better at this. Again, I couldn’t be more thankful to have a bright, articulate friend like Jimmy Tsai as the first guest of this series. He’s also a great representative of what we are trying to do here at BeyondBadminton.com. Look out for more of him on Other People’s Lunches and his other contributions to the site. Thanks again!
So, WHO’S NEXT?
SMC
He looked somewhat uninterested. he likes the jumper but has trouble creating his own shot. but mad respect though JT money is a bball fanatic.
